Contractor shot dead in Lomas de Zamora; one suspect arrested

A 53-year-old Paraguayan contractor, Jorge Britos Alcaraz, was fatally shot in broad daylight as he exited his 4x4 vehicle in Ingeniero Budge, Lomas de Zamora, Argentina. The cold-blooded murder was captured on security camera footage.

The incident occurred last Saturday shortly before 6 a.m. Police responded to a 911 call and found a spent shell casing and a 9mm pistol at the scene. The victim's partner, a 27-year-old woman, told officers she heard a gunshot and found Britos Alcaraz wounded. He was pronounced dead by the time an ambulance arrived.

Video footage shows two individuals on a motorcycle approaching Britos Alcaraz as he got out of his Ford Ranger. One assailant dismounted, approached the victim, and fired at close range before fleeing. Britos Alcaraz managed to fire back with his own 9mm pistol.

Investigators have arrested a 22-year-old suspect who was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound, believed to be the assailant. However, the suspect denied involvement during questioning. Detectives are now searching for the motorcycle's driver, who has also been identified and has a criminal record. While police initially ruled out robbery as a motive, judicial sources remain cautious, suggesting that robbery or a possible 'ajuste de cuentas' (settling of scores) cannot be discounted based on the video evidence.
