Cool Off: Pingtung's Xinfeng Water Park Free for Two Weekends

To combat the summer heat, Pingtung County's Xinfeng Water Park in Gaoshu Township is opening its gates for free admission over two consecutive weekends. The popular family destination, known for drawing up to 20,000 visitors in a single day, will be accessible without charge on July 18-19 and July 25-26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Xinfeng Water Park, built on the site of a river levee damaged during the devastating Typhoon Morakot in 2009, has been transformed into a recreational area. Its expansive water play zone, roughly the size of 43 basketball courts, includes playful sprinklers, water slides, shaded areas, and changing facilities. Surrounded by the scenic Dawu Mountain range, the park is considered a dream destination for families.

Gaoshu Township Office announced that beyond the water attractions, the second weekend of free access, July 25-26, will feature the "Mountain Sound" summer music festival. This event will showcase a lineup of performers, offering a blend of water fun, local food markets, and live music. The township aims to create memorable summer experiences for visitors of all ages.

Gaoshu Township Mayor Liang Zhenghan extended an invitation for people to visit, not only for the music and water park but also to explore the local charm, cuisine, and attractions of Gaoshu, promoting a relaxed travel experience in what he describes as "Pingtung's northernmost, Gaoshu's most beautiful" area.
