Copa Bolivia Launched: Tournament to Run August 19 to December 2

The Copa Bolivia 2026, the second tournament of the Professional Division, has officially kicked off, bringing together all 16 professional clubs in Bolivia. The Football Federation of Bolivia (FBF) launched the competition on Wednesday night, with the first matches scheduled to begin on August 19.

The tournament's format includes a group stage with four groups of four teams each. The group stage will consist of eight matchdays, including six regular season games and two inter-series clashes that will feature local rivalries. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which begins with the round of 16. From this point onwards, all matches, including the final, will be played in a two-legged, home-and-away format.

According to José Antonio Claure, marketing director for the FBF, the Copa Bolivia will conclude on December 2. The tournament is designed to be played during weekdays, allowing weekends to be reserved for the ongoing 'Todos contra Todos' championship. The FBF has announced that the full calendar will be released in the coming days. The draw for the round of 16 pairings has also been determined: the winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group D, and the winner of Group C will play the runner-up of Group B. Conversely, the winner of Group B will compete against the second-place team from Group C, and the winner of Group D will face the runner-up of Group A.

Significantly, the champion of the Copa Bolivia will earn Bolivia the third qualifying spot for the Copa Libertadores de América. The runner-up will secure a place in the Copa Sudamericana. The FBF confirmed that the group winners will initially play away matches and will have the advantage of playing the second leg at home in the knockout rounds.
