Coquimbo and La Serena coaches acquitted after classic match expulsions

The disciplinary tribunal of the ANFP has acquitted Hernán Caputto, coach of Coquimbo Unido, and Felipe Gutiérrez, technical director of Deportes La Serena, following their expulsions during the chaotic final moments of the Coquimbo Region classic, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Both coaches were sent off in stoppage time by referee Diego Flores. The match report stated they deliberately left their technical areas and acted "provocatively and exaltedly against the opposing technical director." Despite these descriptions, the tribunal decided to absolve both Caputto and Gutiérrez, meaning neither will face suspension.

However, the resolutions were different for others involved. Rodrigo Araya, the doctor for Coquimbo Unido, who was expelled in the 90+7th minute for allegedly shouting obscenities towards the visiting bench, received a one-match suspension. Two players also received one-match bans: Manuel Fernández of Coquimbo Unido for striking an opponent with his arm when the ball was not in play, and Sebastián Díaz of Deportes La Serena for hitting an opponent's face with his hand during a confrontation.

Further sanctions include suspensions for Sebastián Galani, Coquimbo Unido's captain, and Gonzalo Escalante of Deportes La Serena, both reaching five yellow cards. Coquimbo Unido as an institution has also been summoned for a hearing on August 19 regarding an alleged violation of exclusion zone protocols during the match.

The match itself was marked by several incidents beyond the expulsions, including a delayed start due to Coquimbo Unido's late arrival and issues with the stadium's artificial lighting, which remained partially off, creating irregular illumination. Additionally, three Coquimbo Unido players entered the field with children during the initial protocol without authorization from the Professional Leagues.
