Corruption Commission Seals West Lombok Regent's Office After Arrests

The office of the Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, has been sealed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) following a sting operation. The usual bustling atmosphere at the West Lombok Regent's office was replaced by a quiet scene on Monday, July 20, 2026, with the Regent's door firmly shut and bearing the KPK's seal.

The sealing occurred hours after the KPK conducted an arrest operation in Gerung, West Lombok. The Head of Public Relations for the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Commissioner Besar Muhammad Kholid, stated that he had not yet received information about the operation and directed inquiries to the KPK.

According to a local government employee, the KPK operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini. The arrested parties were reportedly scheduled to fly to Jakarta for intensive questioning at the KPK headquarters. Under Indonesian law, the KPK has a maximum of 24 hours to determine the legal status of those apprehended.

In addition to the Regent's office, the KPK also sealed the office of the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Housing Agency of West Lombok, Lalu Ratnawi. This action indicates that the office is also part of the investigation.

As of Monday afternoon, the KPK had not officially released details regarding the corruption case or the reasons for sealing the offices. Unconfirmed reports suggest the investigation may be linked to projects funded by the West Lombok Regional Budget (APBD). The West Lombok Regency government has yet to issue a statement concerning the arrests and seals.
