Cosmetic procedure blamed after British-Nigerian businessman dies and is buried in gold-colored coffin

Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo began suffering chest pain and collapsed twice during a massage in Bangkok after undergoing a penis-enlargement procedure in Thailand. The British-Nigerian businessman and social media personality was later diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and died despite more than 100 minutes of resuscitation efforts.

Evidence presented at Inner West London Coroners’ Court said Ubiribo had received 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a Thai clinic in March. He was staying at a Marriott hotel in Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, and went for a massage after the procedure. When he was taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, he could still answer doctors’ questions. His wife told medical staff about the recent injections.

Ubiribo lost consciousness before doctors could perform a recommended CT scan. Doctors found that he had developed a pulmonary embolism, which blocked blood vessels in his lungs. Medical staff tried to revive him in intensive care for more than 100 minutes, but without success. He died in the early hours of March 6.

A post-mortem examination in the United Kingdom found cellular material in Ubiribo’s lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the procedure. Coroner Jean Harkin concluded that the cause of death was a pulmonary embolism resulting from the cosmetic treatment.

Ubiribo had about 185,000 Instagram followers and was known for posts showcasing a luxury lifestyle. The report said he owned a home in Los Angeles’s Crenshaw district valued at about $1.1 million and an apartment in London worth about $600,000. He married fashion designer and socialite Danielle Simba Allen in Zimbabwe in 2022, in a wedding reportedly costing about $473,000. After his death, he was buried at a London funeral in a gold-colored coffin reportedly worth more than $745,000.
