Costa Rica Condemns Russia's Attacks on Ukraine, Citing Sovereignty Violation

Costa Rica has issued a strong condemnation of Russia's recent attacks on Ukraine, denouncing them as a clear violation of international humanitarian law and Ukraine's sovereignty. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Central American nation released a statement expressing deep regret over the loss of human lives resulting from the bombings in Kyiv.

The Costa Rican government's pronouncement specifically labeled the attacks as a "clear violation" of international humanitarian law, as well as Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This condemnation comes in the wake of a massive Russian assault involving numerous missiles and drones, which reportedly caused over twenty deaths and dozens of injuries in the Ukrainian capital.

Costa Rica condemns firmly the most recent attacks by Russia against Ukraine and deeply regrets the loss of human lives caused by the bombings in Kiev.

The United Nations has described the recent Russian offensive as one of the most significant escalations since the war began. Meanwhile, Ukraine has continued its own strikes, targeting refineries within Russia. The most recent reported attack hit a Lukoil refinery in the Nizhni Nóvgorod region, located approximately 450 kilometers east of Moscow. Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed to have intercepted a large number of Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions and occupied Ukrainian territories.
