Costco's Second Tainan Store Aims for 2028 Opening, Plans First Self-Operated Gas Station

Costco is advancing plans for its second store in Tainan, Taiwan, with the ambitious goal of opening its doors in the summer of 2028. This new location is set to introduce Southern Taiwan's first self-operated Costco gas station, a significant addition for the region.

The company is actively seeking approximately NT$280 million (US$8.6 million) in funding from its U.S. headquarters. These funds are earmarked for crucial enhancements, including the construction of additional parking levels and the optimization of traffic flow within the store's premises. The primary objective is to ensure smooth vehicle movement and prevent traffic congestion, a common issue for large retail outlets.
