Coudet Excludes 14 Players from River Plate Squad, Including Galarza

River Plate's coach Eduardo Coudet is initiating a significant squad overhaul, with 14 players being deemed surplus to requirements for the upcoming season. Among those excluded is Paraguayan midfielder Matías Galarza, whose tenure at the club has come to an abrupt end.

Galarza joined River Plate amidst considerable anticipation, having impressed during his time with Talleres de Córdoba and the Paraguayan national team. However, he struggled to make a consistent impact at the Buenos Aires club. River Plate's management has officially notified the affected players that their contracts will not be renewed, allowing them to immediately seek new opportunities once their national team duties conclude.

The departure of Galarza is part of a broader restructuring by Coudet, who aims to rebound after losing the Argentine league's Apertura tournament title. The club has confirmed a list of 14 footballers who will not be part of their plans for the second half of the season. A select group of these players has already been excluded from the delegation traveling to Alicante, Spain, for preseason training.

Notable players not boarding the flight include defenders Paulo Díaz, Germán Pezzella, and Fabricio Bustos, midfielders Maximiliano Meza and Giuliano Galoppo, and forwards Maxi Salas and Alex Woiski. Colombian midfielder Kevin Castaño is also among those seeking a new club, as he does not fit into Coudet's tactical vision. The club and the players' agents will now negotiate transfers, contract terminations, or loan deals for the excluded footballers.
