Could Park Bo-hyun become UFC’s fourth South Korean female fighter? She faces China’s Meng Bo

Park Bo-hyun is one fight away from the UFC after overturning the odds in her Road to UFC semifinal. The South Korean fighter defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Farida Abduyeva by unanimous decision on May 28 at Shanghai’s Oriental Sports Center.

Park produced a dominant performance, opening a cut on Abduyeva’s forehead with a powerful elbow before scoring a knockdown with a left hook. Overseas bookmakers had given Park roughly a 20% chance of winning before the bout, but she upset those expectations and reached the final.

Her final opponent will be China’s Meng Bo, who advanced after beating Japan’s Machi Fukuda by split decision in the other semifinal. Park and Meng faced off at the center of the octagon after Meng’s fight. They bumped fists, hugged, then playfully pressed their foreheads together for an intense but lighthearted confrontation.

The two fighters told each other to “be careful.” Park’s next bout will take place at a UFC Fight Night, although the event date has not been set. A victory would bring her within reach of becoming South Korea’s fourth female UFC fighter.
