Gangwon extend coach Jung Kyung-ho’s contract through 2027

Gangwon FC have extended manager Jung Kyung-ho’s contract through 2027, rewarding a run of results that has lifted the club across domestic and Asian competition.

The club announced the one-year extension on the 7th, saying it valued Jung’s leadership and ability to manage the team. Gangwon said it made the decision to support the club’s long-term development and maintain stability within the squad.

Jung took charge last year and guided Gangwon to fifth place in K League 1, the second-highest finish in the club’s history. The team also reached the Korean Cup semifinals, matching the best result in the club’s history.

Gangwon have continued to progress this season. In their first appearance in the AFC Champions League Elite, the club reached the round of 16. They are currently fourth in K League 1 and have advanced to the Korean Cup quarterfinals.

The extension also preserves a local connection. Jung comes from Samcheok in Gangwon Province and attended Jumunjin Middle School and Gangneung Commercial High School, now Gangneung Jeil High School. The football teams at both schools are currently connected with Gangwon.
