Could Russia occupy the Baltic states in three days? NATO countries overestimate their war readiness

Russia could decide to take the risk of attempting a rapid occupation of the Baltic states, according to Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, known by the call sign “Madyar.” The warning was reported by rbc.ua and presented as a possible repeat of Moscow’s earlier plan to seize Kyiv quickly.

Brovdi said Russia would never capture Kyiv in three days, but questioned whether the same could be said about the Baltic states. “Russia will never capture Kyiv in three days, but whether it will not capture the Baltic states in three days, I am not sure,” he said. He added that NATO members were greatly overestimating their readiness for a war fought with modern technologies.

The Ukrainian commander also drew attention to the scale of drone warfare. He called the drone “the plague of the third millennium,” saying this was not a metaphor but a matter of mathematics. In his account, Russia launched about 300 Shahed drones at Ukraine each day during August.

Brovdi argued that no military in the world is prepared to repel attacks on that scale. He said using traditional air-defense systems to intercept such numbers of drones would create a serious economic challenge for any country.

He also said Russia is continuing to build its military potential by producing and using drones and missiles, improving air-defense systems and preparing for possible mobilization. Brovdi said the Kremlin sees that NATO has not yet established a unified position on how to counter these threats.
