Counterfeit Weight-Loss Drugs Seized in Paraguay Raid

Police and prosecutors in Paraguay have confiscated a significant quantity of tirzepatide-based medications during an operation in Pedro Juan Caballero. The raid targeted a pharmacy located within a shopping center, as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged falsification and sale of these drugs.

The pharmacy is reportedly owned by João Paulo Mora Neves, a Brazilian national who was previously arrested in connection with a clandestine laboratory. This facility is suspected of producing counterfeit weight-loss medications. Authorities detailed that the confiscated items included several brands of tirzepatide, such as Lipoless, Tirzec, and Tirzedral, along with semaglutide under the commercial names Glucox and Glucomex.

These seized medications were sealed and stored in the refrigerators where they were kept, pending further examination by the Public Ministry. The operation follows a previous raid on a suspected clandestine laboratory where three Brazilian nationals were detained. Evidence gathered at the lab suggested that weight-loss drugs were being processed, falsified, and promoted via social media for commercial purposes.

The investigation was prompted by reports linking one of the arrested individuals to the pharmacy in the Shopping Dubai. Tirzepatide is a medication used for weight loss and diabetes management, and its use requires medical supervision due to potential risks. The illegal production and distribution of such drugs pose a significant public health concern.
