Couple Arrested in Taiwan for Fatal Stabbing Over Debt Dispute

Authorities have apprehended the main suspects in the fatal stabbing of a 60-year-old man in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A 41-year-old man and his 28-year-old girlfriend were arrested in Donggang, Pingtung, after allegedly killing the victim during a dispute over a private loan.

The incident occurred early on July 4th when the suspects, along with three other individuals, visited the victim's residence to discuss a debt of NT$100,000. A confrontation ensued, during which the main suspect reportedly used a spring knife to stab the victim twice in the back, causing fatal injuries to his lungs.

Police quickly identified the individuals involved. Within five hours of the crime, two other suspects, identified as Sun and Xue, were arrested in Fengshan District and subsequently detained. The main suspect, Zhang, and his girlfriend, Ke, were apprehended on July 5th in Pingtung. Zhang has confessed to the stabbing. The case has been transferred to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutor's Office, with authorities requesting pre-trial detention for the suspects.
