Couple caught in street shootout returning from picnic injured

A couple returning from a picnic became unintended victims when a street dispute erupted into a violent gunfight. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Geçimli Street in the Mithatpaşa neighborhood of the Kocasinan district.

The altercation began as a verbal argument between M.T. and V.G., Ö.A., M.E., M.E., and D.D. over an unknown reason. The dispute quickly escalated, turning into a shootout. During the chaos, M.T. reportedly retrieved an automatic rifle from his car and fired shots indiscriminately into the surroundings.

As İ.Y. and his wife S.Y. were exiting their vehicle in the building's parking lot at that moment, they were struck by shotgun pellets, sustaining injuries to various parts of their bodies. Emergency services and police were dispatched to the scene following calls from bystanders. The injured couple received initial medical attention before being transported to the hospital. Six suspects were apprehended and taken into police custody. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
