Driver's panic sends car into building void in Istanbul; two injured

A car accident in Istanbul's Bakırköy district took a bizarre turn when a driver, panicking after a collision, mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. The vehicle then accelerated and plunged into an empty space within a building. The incident occurred at the intersection of Harman Street and Çatal Street in Şenlikköy Mahallesi.

Emergency services, including multiple ambulances and police units, were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics treated two individuals who were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. They were subsequently transported to a hospital for further medical attention. The car, which ended up in the building's void, was reduced to wreckage.

One resident, Emir Yılmaz, described hearing a loud noise while watching television at home. "I heard a 'boom' sound. I got scared and went out. Accidents happen here all the time anyway," he said, expressing his shock and fear at seeing the car had fallen into the building's space. "Something like this can't happen. I was very surprised, very scared."
