Court hears Alan Jones was 'generous' to man alleging indecent assault

During the criminal trial of veteran broadcaster Alan Jones, a former colleague has testified that jokes were made about Jones appearing "generous" towards a younger colleague at a 2008 Christmas lunch. Jones faces 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching involving six men, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Jason Morrison, a former 2GB host and producer, told the NSW Local Court that he and other guests joked about Jones and the complainant, referred to as Complainant C, looking like a "great couple." Morrison denied seeing any indecent assault or Jones placing his hand on Complainant C's lap under the table, stating, "I didn't, because I didn't see that happen."

Prosecutors expressed concerns that Morrison might be deliberately omitting key evidence. They sought to cross-examine him, citing text messages where Morrison allegedly showed "long held disdain" for a journalist who investigated Jones. Morrison acknowledged finding some of the journalist's reporting "average" but denied tailoring his evidence, calling the accusation offensive as he was testifying under oath.

The court heard Complainant C alleges that Jones "rested" his hand on his crotch for "most of" the lunch. Another witness had previously testified that Morrison was present when someone asked Complainant C if he had "copped a feel under the table." Morrison repeatedly denied hearing this comment.
