Court orders police probe of Fadahunsi over killing comment

Senator Francis Fadahunsi faces a police investigation following a Magistrate's Court order concerning alleged comments calling for the killing of Accord members ahead of the Osun State governorship election. The court directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, to investigate the criminal complaint and submit a report within two weeks.

I am directed by the presiding Magistrate II, His Worship Hon. Farida Ibrahim, sitting at Magistrate Court Wuse Zone 6, F.C.T Abuja to write to your office to investigate the above-mentioned case and report back within two weeks.

The directive stems from a complaint filed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, who serves as the campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. Olajengbesi accused Fadahunsi of making statements in a viral video that allegedly encouraged violence against Accord members and supporters before the August 15 election.

During the said interview, you launched a direct attack on the identity, character and reputation of our Client by stating, among other things, that our Client was ‘not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha’ and was ‘from somewhere in Ogun State.’ You further accused him of ‘using thugs, Eiye and Aye.’

This legal action comes as Olajengbesi also threatened to file a N10bn defamation and injurious falsehood suit against Fadahunsi. The senator allegedly made separate accusations during television interviews on Viable TV and Channels Television's Politics Today, claiming Olajengbesi was sponsoring thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.

Olajengbesi's lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, detailed these allegations in a letter dated August 12, 2026. The lawyer stated that Fadahunsi directly attacked Olajengbesi's character, questioning his origins and accusing him of using thugs and cultists. Olajengbesi has denied these claims, calling them false, defamatory, and damaging to his reputation as a legal practitioner and public figure.
