Gombe NSCDC nabs three for impersonation, possessing fake IDs

Gombe State authorities have arrested three men suspected of impersonating Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel, allegedly using forged identification cards and uniforms. The suspects, identified as Auwal Umar, 26, Hamza Usman, 23, and Yakubu Muhammad, 22, were paraded at the NSCDC State Command.

According to CSC Buhari Saad, the Command's Public Relations Officer, the suspects were found with NSCDC volunteer identification cards and uniforms. Saad emphasized that the NSCDC does not issue any form of identification to its volunteers, making the suspects' possession of such items highly suspicious. This raises concerns that the individuals may have intended to impersonate corps members.

The NSCDC stated that the suspects are being held for conspiracy, impersonation, and forgery. Investigations are ongoing, and they are expected to be arraigned in court upon completion. The corps urged the public to exercise caution and verify the credentials of anyone claiming to be an NSCDC official or volunteer to prevent potential deception or misuse of the corps' identity.
