Court orders police to probe senator over alleged 'kill Accord' comment

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, is under investigation following a criminal complaint filed at a Magistrate Court in Abuja. The court has directed the police to probe allegations that the senator called for the killing of members of the Accord Party. The directive, issued by Presiding Magistrate II Farida Ibrahim, mandates the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, to submit a report within two weeks.

The complaint was initiated by Pelumi Olajengbesi, campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. Olajengbesi alleges that Fadahunsi made statements in a viral video that encouraged violence against Accord Party members and supporters shortly before the August 15 Osun State governorship election. The court has provided the police with a copy of the criminal complaint for necessary action.

This development follows separate allegations made by Fadahunsi during television interviews. Olajengbesi's lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, sent a letter dated August 12, 2026, threatening a N10 billion defamation and injurious falsehood suit. The lawyer demanded a retraction of statements made on Viable TV and Channels Television, where Fadahunsi allegedly accused Olajengbesi of sponsoring thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups. Fadahunsi also reportedly claimed Olajengbesi was not from Osun State but from Ogun State.
