COWLSO boosts Lagos orphanages with N60m support

In a heartwarming display of commitment to social welfare, the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), under the able leadership of First Lady Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has once again extended its benevolent reach to vulnerable children. The recent N60 million donation to 11 orphanages across Lagos signifies a profound dedication to ensuring that the less privileged are not left behind in the state's developmental strides.

The programme reflected a sustained commitment to social inclusion and collective responsibility, noting that it embodied “compassion, unity, and the collective responsibility to care for the less privileged.”

This initiative, now in its sixth edition, has seen remarkable growth since its inception in 2020. What began as a modest intervention of N5.5 million has blossomed into a substantial N60 million support package. This expansion is a clear testament to the deepening investment in the welfare and inclusion of children in care, reflecting a collective responsibility that resonates deeply within our community.

The initiative has expanded significantly since its launch, with “over 70 orphanages” supported since 2020 through a combination of essential items and financial assistance.

The distribution of essential items such as televisions, deep freezers, washing machines, generators, food supplies, and toiletries, alongside crucial financial aid for education and medical care, demonstrates a holistic approach. It's not just about providing aid; it's about tailoring support to specific needs, thereby improving living conditions and fostering an environment where these children can truly thrive.
