CPBL Draft: Record 200 Players Vie for Spots in Largest Class Ever

A record 200 players are set to participate in the 2026 Taiwan Major League Baseball (CPBL) rookie draft on June 29 in Taichung. The selection process will see teams aim to bolster their rosters with future talent. Among the highly anticipated prospects is Chen Po-kai, a shortstop from Ta-Hsi Senior High School, who is considered a top pick due to his power-hitting ability and potential. Another promising shortstop is Huang Ching-che from Taitung Senior High School, known for his aggressive play and speed. The pitching staff also boasts notable talent, with Huang Chieh-han from National Taiwan Sport University standing out. The 193cm tall right-hander can throw fastballs up to 153 kph and has a history of dominant performances in amateur leagues. The draft also includes players like "Nagata Clause" protagonist Nagataso Taro, who aims to become the next foreign player to be drafted into the CPBL.
