CPBL: Lions blank TSG Hawks for second straight game as manager says surviving crises was key

The Uni-Lions shut out the TSG Hawks for a second straight day, but manager Lin Yueh-ping said the wins were built on surviving danger rather than cruising through games.

After Blake delivered a strong start the previous day, fellow Canadian pitcher Jordan followed with six scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory. He threw 92 pitches and gave up six hits, yet escaped trouble in every inning.

The biggest scare came in the fourth, when Jordan allowed the bases to be loaded. The Hawks still failed to score, as the Lions repeatedly closed out threatening situations. Lin said both starting pitchers had faced crises during the two games, but neither allowed a run. He also credited the team's fielding, saying strong catches and throws reduced the pressure on the pitchers.

Lin said the two starting pitchers were both capable, making it crucial not to give the opponent an early chance to score. He added that Jordan's pitches moved along more than one path, making them difficult for Hawks hitters to read.
