The play extended Wike’s hitless streak in those situations to 11 at-bats. The repeated missed chances have limited his opportunities to drive in runs for Rakuten.

Wike is batting .180 with runners in scoring position this season, collecting seven hits in 39 at-bats and 12 RBIs. The team’s other foreign hitter, Dowy Saint, has one hit in nine at-bats in the same situation, with two RBIs.
