CPBL: Rogo exits after five innings again as league’s first 10-win foreign pitcher remains elusive

Rogo’s bid to become the first foreign pitcher with 10 wins in this CPBL season ended again after five innings. The CTBC Brothers ace threw 85 pitches and allowed one run in the final game of the weekend series against the Wei Chuan Dragons.

The Brothers and Dragons had split the first two games of the three-game series. Both teams again used foreign starters for the finale, with Chiang Han facing Rogo. Rogo gave up a run in the first inning, then struck out six batters from the second through the fifth.

Despite limiting the Dragons to one run, Rogo did not return for the sixth inning. Chen Hu took over, but left after two outs when the Brothers faced a bases-loaded threat.

The outing marked Rogo’s third failed attempt at his 10th win. On Aug. 25, he threw 101 pitches over five innings against the Rakuten Monkeys, allowing five runs in a losing effort. The league has relied heavily on foreign pitchers, but Fubon Guardians pitcher Li Dong-ming remains the only player to have reached 10 wins this season.
