CPC to Absorb More Costs as Taiwan Fuel Prices Freeze for Sixth Straight Week

Taiwan’s CPC said domestic fuel prices will remain frozen for a sixth consecutive week, despite renewed U.S.-Iran tensions and higher international oil prices. From Monday, Sept. 7, the company will absorb NT$7.8 per liter for gasoline and NT$7.6 for diesel under expanded government stabilization measures.

Prices will remain at NT$30.5 per liter for 92 unleaded gasoline, NT$32 for 95 unleaded, NT$34 for 98 unleaded and NT$29.3 for premium diesel. CPC said the measures aim to support household expenses and stabilize prices.

The government will absorb NT$3.7 per liter for gasoline and NT$2.1 for diesel through expanded commodity-tax reductions. CPC will absorb an additional NT$4.1 for gasoline and NT$5.5 for diesel from Sept. 7 to Sept. 13 under the special stabilization mechanism.

CPC said it had absorbed about NT$18.72 billion in total fuel costs from Feb. 28 through Sept. 6. It added that Taiwan’s retail gasoline and diesel prices remained the lowest among neighboring countries, while actual prices depend on individual outlets.
