Crackdown on cultists: Police arrest three, seize firearms in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command operatives arrested three suspected cultists in Imota, recovering firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation. The suspects, identified as Jelili Adeyemo, Bisoye Adewale, and John Okeafo, are allegedly members of the Aiye Confraternity.

Acting on the credible intelligence, operatives of the command stormed the location and arrested Jelili Adeyemo, 37 years old, alleged to be the armourer of the group, Bisoye Adewale, 42 years old, and John Okeafo, 60 years old.

Authorities seized a Beretta pistol, a locally made pistol, seven Dane guns, 10 live cartridges, and other weapons. The Beretta pistol reportedly belongs to a notorious cultist known as 'Mayibone,' who remains at large. The arrested individuals have been arraigned and remanded in custody.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of the Aiye Confraternity, while the recovered Beretta pistol allegedly belongs to a notorious cultist known as ‘Mayibone,’ who is currently at large.

The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend other fleeing gang members and recover additional weapons. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command's dedication to eradicating cultism and violent crimes, urging residents to continue providing crucial information to aid security efforts.
