Creation Technologies Sonora strike over alleged labor violations and delegate dismissal

The Union of Workers of Creation Technologies in Sonora has initiated a strike at the plant, citing numerous violations of labor rights by the company. A primary accusation is the unjustified dismissal of a union delegate, which the union asserts is a direct attack on freedom of association and employee organization.

According to the union, the company also failed to adhere to established labor laws concerning staff reductions. Mandatory criteria, such as employee seniority, were reportedly disregarded during the layoff process. The strike has garnered significant backing from the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM) in Sonora.

Javier Villarreal Gámez, general secretary of CTM Sonora, visited the company's facilities to express solidarity and pledged that the union would not permit infringements on hard-won labor rights. Leaders from CTM Hermosillo, headed by Oscar Ortiz Arvayo, also joined in support, reiterating their commitment to backing the union's actions in defense of collective bargaining and worker representation.

Representatives from other CTM-affiliated unions in Hermosillo also participated in the solidarity event, demonstrating a united front from the labor sector amidst the conflict. The union is urging the company to engage in dialogue and pursue a negotiated settlement. Key demands include the reinstatement of the dismissed union delegate and a full guarantee of respect for union freedom and labor legality.
