Creative Project Revealed as Purpose of Fatal Flight Carrying Gaspi and Oliver Tree

The reason behind the ill-fated helicopter flight that claimed the lives of Argentine content creator Gaspar Prim Díaz, known as Gaspi, and American musician Oliver Tree, among others, has been clarified. The tragedy occurred on June 14, 2026, in Rio de Janeiro's Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood.

Oliver Tree's mother, Christine Begin Nickell, broke her silence during a tribute event in Santa Cruz, California. She revealed that the group's intention was creative collaboration. "He told us that the next day he was going to take a helicopter ride to a house on top of a mountain to make music and TikTok videos with his friends," she shared in a video posted by TMZ. This confirmed their plan was to engage in collaborative work for their digital platforms.

Begin Nickell also recounted a final FaceTime conversation with her son, where he humorously responded to a promise about quitting smoking during the tour. She described him as enthusiastic and full of energy, noting his constant pursuit of "epic days", a spirit shared by Gaspi and filmmaker Lucas Vignale, who were accompanying him on audiovisual projects.

The impact of the loss was felt globally. During the recent La Velada del Año VI event in Seville, streamer Ibai Llanos paid tribute to Gaspi, highlighting his talent and character. Gaspi's mother, Michelle, expressed gratitude for the support and presented a robe the young creator used to wear. Llanos also extended condolences to the family of Lucas Vignale, Gaspi's frequent collaborator.

Brazilian authorities have classified the incident as an "invisible flight" because the aircraft were not detected by air traffic control radars. Furthermore, the involved aircraft were not equipped with black boxes, as current regulations do not mandate them for this type of private transport. The investigation by Brazil's Center for Research and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents continues to determine the exact causes of the collision that resulted in six fatalities.
