Creative residency and online talks offered for analog cinema

LEXA is opening two free training spaces for people interested in analog cinema: the online talk series La Semana Súper 8 and the Yvyra creative residency.

The Super 8 series will run from Sept. 15 to 24 and is open to anyone interested in the format. Its facilitators include Pablo Marín from Argentina and Spain, Paulo Pécora from Argentina, the Brazilian duo Strangloscope, and Daniela Cugliandolo from Argentina and Spain.

Yvyra will focus on creating and producing audiovisual work about trees. The residency aims to produce five short films on Super 8mm film. Joaquín Pedretti, Dave Walls and sound technician Martín de Lemos will lead the program.

The residency will last eight weeks in a hybrid format, between Asunción and Altos in the Cordillera department. Applications are open until Sept. 21 to advanced students and professionals working in audiovisual production, film, sound, interdisciplinary arts or the performing arts. Applicants must first take part in the Super 8 talk series.

LEXA is coordinated by Pedretti and Walls. The activities have support from Paraguay's National Audiovisual Institute, the Paraguayan-German Cultural Institute and Goethe-Zentrum, and Piscucha Film Lab.
