Crime report filed over social media influencer Olivia Oras's death

A criminal report has been filed over the death of Finnish social media influencer Olivia Oras, who was 27. Yle reported that the complaint was submitted to Helsinki police by people close to Oras and concerns suspected aggravated negligent homicide.

Oras's parents, art dealer Reijo Oras and artist Johanna Oras, confirmed the report to Yle. They said the request for an investigation concerns a private clinic in Helsinki and that they believe the clinic bears responsibility for their daughter's death.

According to Yle's information, Oras underwent liposuction at a Helsinki beauty clinic. Sources told the broadcaster that problems began during the anesthesia administered before the procedure. Oras lost consciousness, was taken to Helsinki University Hospital for treatment and later died.

News of her death emerged the previous Friday. Oras was regarded as one of the first Finns to become widely known primarily through social media, having gained public attention as a teenager. The report remains developing.
