Criminals flee with large sum after killing vendor in front of daughter in Ypané

A brutal armed robbery in Ypané, Paraguay, resulted in the death of a 43-year-old fruit and vegetable vendor, Carlos Nelson Núñez, who was shot and killed in front of his four-year-old daughter. The assailants fled with approximately G. 25,000,000 (around $3,400 USD) and Núñez's revolver.

The incident occurred as Núñez was driving home after closing his successful business. He had his young daughter in the back seat when three criminals on two motorcycles intercepted his vehicle. The attackers, wearing helmets and armed with handguns, reportedly fired at least four shots. One bullet struck the truck's door frame, while another fatally wounded Núñez in the face.

According to reports from associates, Núñez often carried a significant amount of cash, estimated between G. 25,000,000 and G. 30,000,000, to manage payments with suppliers and ensure his business remained well-stocked. It is believed that the criminals were aware of this practice and had been monitoring his movements.

Despite the violent attack, Núñez's daughter was unharmed. The criminals escaped through alternative routes to evade security cameras after taking the victim's money and weapon. Núñez was transported to a local health center, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim had established a thriving business in the city center of Ypané, providing employment to several young people. The crime has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting concerns about ongoing livestock theft and the prevalence of violent crime.
