Croatia braces for weather change: Rain expected after weekend heat

Croatia is bracing for a significant weather shift, with forecasts predicting a return of rain at the close of the weekend after a period of heat. Saturday is expected to be predominantly hot and dry throughout the country, though the interior may see more clouds, particularly in the morning. The Adriatic coast, however, will enjoy sunny skies.

Winds will generally be light, with moderate northwesterly breezes along the coast. Temperatures will range from 8-13°C inland overnight, reaching 15-20°C on the coast. Daytime highs are forecast to be between 24°C and 29°C. Sunday is anticipated to be even warmer before the weather turns.

According to forecasts from the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ), a change will arrive from the north, bringing increased cloud cover and rain. Tomislav Kozarić, speaking to HRT, predicts possible thunderstorms, which could be more intense in some areas. Rain is expected to continue into Monday, especially during the first half of the day.

Following the rain, calmer conditions are expected, with potential for fog on Tuesday morning. Winds will be light to moderate southwesterly, shifting to northeasterly. By Monday, most regions will experience a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures, making it significantly cooler. The Adriatic coast will also see cloud cover on Monday after a warm weekend, with nights becoming increasingly warm, and even hot in some places.
