Croatia's 311th Sinjska Alka Tournament Draws Top Officials, PM Announces Fuel Price Drop

Croatia's historic 311th Sinjska alka, a knightly equestrian competition commemorating the 1715 victory over the Ottoman Empire, is taking place in Sinj. The prestigious event has drawn the nation's highest political figures, including President Zoran Milanović, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković.

Before the competition commenced, state leaders attended a reception hosted by the "Vojvoda" (Duke). The program included a review of the alkar knights and was scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM local time. The day's events are set to conclude with a concert by Siniša Vuco.

Prime Minister Plenković made a statement to the media, notably announcing an upcoming reduction in fuel prices. President Milanović, however, did not provide comments to the press upon his arrival. The Sinjska alka is a significant cultural and historical event for Croatia, celebrating a pivotal moment in its history.

The tournament's schedule also included the arrival of the Prime Minister and ministers at the Church of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj. The event highlights the blend of historical tradition, national pride, and contemporary political engagement in Croatia.
