Croatia to auction 3,456 confiscated beer cans

Croatian customs will auction off 3,456 cans of Nectar beer, seized from smugglers attempting to bring them across the border from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The sale involves 144 packages, each containing 24 half-liter cans. The total estimated value of the confiscated beer is 1,728 euros. This price includes all duties and VAT for releasing the goods into free circulation within Croatia. Consequently, the effective price per can is approximately 0.5 euros, a substantial discount compared to the average supermarket price of around 1.3 euros per can.

Participation in the auction is open to both individuals and legal entities, meaning any adult citizen of Croatia can submit a bid. A deposit amounting to 10 percent of the value, or 172.80 euros, is required and must be paid by September 4 at 9:55 AM. The confiscated goods are currently stored at the customs warehouse at the Stara Gradiška border crossing.
