Croatian Goalkeeper Livaković Nears Barcelona Transfer from Fenerbahçe

Croatian national team goalkeeper Dominik Livaković appears to be on the verge of a significant transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona. The Catalan club has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with his current team, Turkish club Fenerbahçe, for a transfer fee of two million euros, with an additional two million euros possible through add-ons.

This potential move would make Livaković the fifth Croatian player to feature for Barcelona. The deal, confirmed by football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, suggests Barcelona sees the 31-year-old as a long-term successor to their current first-choice goalkeeper, Joan Garcia. Livaković is slated to join the team in the summer of 2027, coinciding with the expiration of Wojciech Szczęsny's contract.

Given the timeline, Livaković is expected to spend the upcoming season on loan. A return to his former club, Dinamo Zagreb, is a strong possibility. Livaković played for Dinamo in two separate stints, accumulating 310 appearances. Dinamo had previously shown interest in re-signing their long-serving goalkeeper, but Fenerbahçe's asking price was deemed too high.

Dinamo's pursuit of other goalkeeping targets, such as Dominik Kotarski, has faced complications. Negotiations with Copenhagen for Kotarski have stalled over financial demands, and a knee injury sustained by the player presents an additional challenge. A loan move for Livaković to Dinamo could therefore solve the Zagreb club's goalkeeping needs for the upcoming season, although the club was reportedly hesitant about a one-year deal for the national team keeper.
