Croatian Government: Fitch Rating Confirmation Validates Responsible Economic Policy

The Croatian government declared that Fitch's reaffirmation of the country's 'A-' credit rating demonstrates its commitment to responsible economic policy, even amid demanding global circumstances. "Despite continuously challenging conditions marked by global crises and uncertainties, the Government of the Republic of Croatia is pursuing a responsible economic policy, with stable GDP growth, rational public finance management, and quality absorption of European funds through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPOO) and the Multiannual Financial Framework (VFO)," the government stated.

Officials emphasized that a high credit rating provides tangible benefits to Croatian citizens and the economy. It also serves as a crucial signal to international investors, positioning Croatia as a dependable and attractive destination for investment.

Fitch Ratings confirmed Croatia's 'A-' rating with stable outlooks on Saturday. The agency acknowledged the country's strong economic growth and fiscal discipline. However, it also pointed out that Croatia's economy is relatively small and vulnerable to external shocks, and that its price competitiveness has weakened.

Fitch had initially upgraded Croatia's rating to 'A-' in September 2024 and has maintained it since then. The rating reflects a balance of positive economic performance and underlying structural vulnerabilities.
