Croatian Prime Minister Honors Gymnast Ilija Kovtun After Historic European Championship Success

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Minister of Tourism and Sport Tonči Glavina hosted Croatian gymnast Ilija Kovtun and a delegation from the Croatian Gymnastics Federation and the Croatian Olympic Committee to celebrate his two gold medals at the European Gymnastics Championships. The championship, hosted in Zagreb, marked a historic occasion as the largest ever held, attracting 660 athletes from 43 nations. Minister Glavina lauded the event's organization, highlighting Croatia's capability to host major sporting competitions. He specifically noted Kovtun's first-ever all-around gold medal for Croatia as a significant achievement, praising the performances of all Croatian gymnasts. Glavina remarked that Kovtun's victories beautifully concluded Croatia's summer of sports. Kovtun expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Croatia and for the support of the home crowd. Marijo Možnik, president of the Croatian Gymnastics Federation, described the championship as a source of collective pride.
