Croatian Rock Icon Miljenko Matijević Releases His Version of Timeless Hit After 30 Years

Miljenko Matijević, the Zagreb-born frontman of the rock band SteelHeart, has unveiled his rendition of the timeless ballad "Without You," a song he has carried with him for nearly three decades.

This new release arrives after SteelHeart's "SteelHeart 30" project, which commemorated the 30th anniversary of their debut album. This album, released in the early 90s, achieved platinum status and reached the top 40 on the Billboard charts, selling 33,000 copies in Japan on its first day alone.

Matijević, who moved to the United States with his parents as a child, has had a remarkable career. He lent his voice to the Hollywood film "Rock Star" and survived a life-threatening accident. He described his new version of "Without You," recorded with a 40-piece orchestra, as the most emotional vocal performance of his career.

SteelHeart's hit song "She's Gone" continues to resonate, with tens of millions of streams and enduring popularity in South Korea as a karaoke favorite. The band's key markets today include Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, with 16 of the top 20 cities for "She's Gone" streams located in Indonesia. Matijević's journey from Zagreb to international rock stardom was fraught with challenges, including adapting to a new country and language before music became his refuge.
