Cross River LG vice chairmen back Otu, Tinubu for 2027

The Forum of Vice Chairmen of Local Government Councils in Cross River State has publicly declared their support for Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu, looking ahead to the 2027 general elections. The group cited the ongoing reforms and development initiatives at both state and federal levels as key reasons for their endorsement, describing these efforts as bold steps yielding positive results nationwide.

During a courtesy visit to Federal Commissioner Ededet Eyoma, who represents Cross River and Akwa Ibom states at the Federal Civil Service Commission in Abuja, the forum's head, Christina Eso, praised Eyoma's open-door policy and his appointment. Eso, who is also the Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA, described Eyoma's role as a "square peg in a square hole" and lauded his achievements and experience in human capital development. She expressed the forum's "full confidence" in his ability to deliver beyond expectations.

The forum specifically commended President Tinubu and Governor Otu for nominating and appointing Eyoma, stating that his selection aligns with the administration's "Renewed Hope agenda" and "People's First Mantra." Hon. Ekuma Ngwu, the Forum Welfare Chairman and Vice Chairman of Biase LGA, added that the visit was to identify with the commissioner and wish him a successful tenure. Ngwu reaffirmed their support for both Tinubu and Otu, expressing optimism that the synergy between the state and federal governments would bring more benefits to the people.

In his remarks, Commissioner Eyoma thanked the forum for recognizing his service and described the visit as "support from home." He pledged to collaborate with relevant agencies, including the forum, to discharge his responsibilities selflessly. Eyoma encouraged Nigerians to support President Tinubu and be patient with the administration's reforms, asserting that the policies are beginning to yield positive outcomes. He emphasized the President's efforts to stabilize the economy and expand development, stating that the "Renewed Hope agenda will surely reposition Nigeria."
