Cuba exits Women's Baseball World Cup after group stage losses

Cuba's journey in the Women's Baseball World Cup has come to an end following their elimination in the group stage. The tournament, held in Tainan, Taiwan, saw the Cuban team finish their participation with a 1-4 record.

The final day of group play presented a challenging scenario for the Cuban squad. They managed to secure a victory against Great Britain with a score of 7-4, marking their sole win of the tournament. However, their hopes of advancing were dashed in their subsequent match against Venezuela, where they suffered a 2-5 defeat.

Under the management of Jorge Luis Pimienta, the Cuban team was unable to secure one of the coveted spots in the final round. The three available qualification berths were claimed by undefeated Japan (5-0), Venezuela (4-1), and host Chinese Taipei (2-2). The team's performance, marked by four losses and a single win, was deemed insufficient for progression.

Despite a promising start in their game against Great Britain, where they scored four runs in the first inning, Cuba's offense struggled throughout the tournament, managing only five hits in multiple games. Pitching efforts from Maiquelis Chacón and Adriana Carrazana showed flashes of potential, but ultimately could not overcome the team's hitting limitations against stronger opponents like Venezuela.
