Culture Ministry Awards Prizes to Cultural Centers

Lithuania's Ministry of Culture has recognized the vital role of cultural centers by awarding prizes to three institutions for their outstanding work. The awards celebrate their contributions to local communities, cultural heritage preservation, and the promotion of arts and identity across the country.

Minister of Culture Vaida Aleknavičienė highlighted that these centers are the "axis of local communities' cultural life, uniting people for creativity, tradition, and new initiatives." She noted that this year's recipients have consistently worked to safeguard and revitalize cultural heritage, bolster local identity, and enhance the nation's cultural vitality.

The Šiauliai District Municipality Culture Center received an award for nurturing amateur arts and song festival traditions, alongside popularizing ethnic culture and intangible cultural heritage. The Priekulė Arts and Culture Center was honored for its creative and innovative activities that foster diverse cultural expressions and for promoting professional art. The Šilutė Culture Center was recognized for strengthening local cultural identity, national consciousness, and historical memory.

These annual awards aim to encourage effective and creative operations among cultural centers, acknowledging their achievements and the cultural services they provide. Each prize is valued at 70 basic social benefits (BSI), with a total of 210 BSI distributed among the three winning centers.
