Culture Secretariat Inaugurates 'Ajolotes del Corazón' Exhibition in Xochimilco

The Mexico City Culture Secretariat has inaugurated an art exhibition named "Ajolotes del corazón" (Axolotls of the Heart), featuring 100 diverse artworks by various artists. The exhibition is now open to the public at Plaza Tlaxcoaque and the Cuemanco embarcadero in Xochimilco, with installations available until the end of September.

Ana Francis López Bayghen Patiño, head of the Culture Secretariat, noted that one particular artwork, deemed too fragile for outdoor display, will be housed at the Museum of the City. These axolotl-themed pieces were previously showcased at several football festivals during a major world sporting event, where they garnered significant attention.

Patiño further explained that the artworks represent a wide array of artistic techniques and proposals, with each piece being unique. She drew a parallel to a previous exhibition, "Nopalera en el corazón," suggesting that "Ajolotes del corazón" will also have a significant presence. The Secretariat plans to convene with the city's visual artists to discuss strategies for enhancing public exhibitions and increasing their visibility.
