Customs Foils Two Gold Smuggling Attempts, Seizes 23 Kg Worth $4 Million in Under 24 Hours

Indonesian customs officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have successfully intercepted two separate attempts to smuggle gold out of the country in less than a day. The operations, conducted in collaboration with Aviation Security (Avsec), resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of gold.

In total, 23 kilograms of gold were confiscated, with an estimated value reaching 63 billion Indonesian Rupiah. This significant haul underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat illicit trade and protect national economic interests.

The attempted smuggling activities were detected at Terminal 3 of the airport, a major hub for international travel and cargo. The speed at which these two incidents were uncovered, occurring within a 24-hour period, highlights the vigilance of the airport's security and customs personnel.
