Customs Supports Jepara Suitcase Exports with Bonded Zone Facility

The Customs and Excise Office for Central Java and Yogyakarta (Kanwil Bea Cukai Jateng dan DIY) has provided bonded zone facilities to PT Daw Son Indonesia, a manufacturing company based in Jepara, Central Java. This initiative is part of the government's strategy to enhance the competitiveness of national industries, stimulate investment, broaden export markets, and generate employment opportunities.

Agus Yulianto, Head of Kanwil Bea Cukai Jateng dan DIY, stated that bonded zone facilities offer fiscal and procedural advantages for export-oriented businesses. These include deferment of import duties, exemption from excise taxes, and non-collection of VAT, PPh Article 22, and import-related taxes. Such benefits are designed to reduce production costs and expedite the flow of goods.

The provision of this facility is part of the government's effort to increase the competitiveness of national industry, encourage investment, expand export markets, and create jobs.

PT Daw Son Indonesia specializes in travel accessories, particularly suitcases. The company reported a production capacity of 840,000 units in 2026, with projections to reach 1,008,000 units by 2030, driven by capacity expansion and increasing international demand. Its products are primarily exported to the United States and the United Kingdom, contributing to Indonesia's manufacturing export sector.

The company's investment value stood at Rp 35 billion in 2026 and is expected to rise to Rp 55 billion by 2030, reflecting a commitment to growth and global competitiveness. Furthermore, the bonded zone facility is anticipated to significantly increase employment, with PT Daw Son Indonesia employing 411 Indonesian citizens in 2026, a number projected to grow to 700 by 2030. This expansion of job opportunities is expected to positively impact the regional economy, especially in Jepara Regency.
