Cyclone Priska batters Lithuania with heavy rain and winds; calmer weather expected mid-week

Lithuania is experiencing the full force of Cyclone Priska, which has brought significant rainfall and powerful winds across the country. Meteorologist E. Latvėnaitė described the cyclone as having "hit with full force," causing widespread downpours and severe gusts that continue to batter the nation.

This is a cyclone, named Priska, which reached Lithuania, spun up even more, and hit with full force. It not only watered down a lot but also ravaged with very strong winds and is still ravaging.

Over the weekend, western regions can expect rain, with heavier showers possible in the north. Wind speeds will remain high, with gusts potentially reaching 20-25 m/s in northern areas during the night. Temperatures will be mild, ranging from 10-13 degrees Celsius at night and up to 20 degrees during the day.

Into Monday and Tuesday, intermittent rain is forecast, particularly in western and northern areas. Thunderstorms may occur in the afternoons. Winds will persist from the west, with gusts up to 15 m/s during thunderstorms. Nighttime temperatures will hover between 10-16 degrees, with daytime highs around 17-19 degrees.

From Wednesday, it will cover Scandinavia, the Baltics, Central and Eastern Europe. The sky will often clear up, we will see more sun, but it will still be cool, especially at night.

The weather is set to improve from Wednesday as anticyclone Steffen moves in, promising drier and calmer conditions with more sunshine. However, nights will remain cool, with temperatures dropping to 7-10 degrees. Daytime temperatures will reach up to 21 degrees. This respite is temporary, as a wetter and warmer cyclonic system is predicted to approach the Baltic region by the following weekend.
