Cyclone Raphaela to bring rain and cooler temperatures to Lithuania this weekend

Lithuania is bracing for the arrival of Cyclone Raphaela, with its eastern section expected to impact the country starting Saturday night. Meteorologist Elvyra Latvėnaitė forecasts warmer temperatures initially, accompanied by moderate southeastern winds, before the cyclone's atmospheric front moves in.

Rain is anticipated to begin in the western and southwestern regions on Saturday afternoon, gradually spreading across the country. While some areas may experience light showers, others could see heavier rainfall. By Saturday evening, winds are expected to shift to southerly and southwesterly directions as they subside. Daytime temperatures will range from 21-24°C in most of Lithuania, though the westernmost areas might experience a slight drop to 18-20°C.

The forecast for Sunday and Monday suggests a relatively calm and warm period, with intermittent rain and occasional weak thunderstorms. Fog is also possible during the night in many areas. Winds will be from the southwest, and temperatures will remain pleasant, with daytime highs between 21-26°C and nighttime lows between 11-17°C.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, the weather is expected to become more variable. While the night may bring only scattered showers, daytime will see widespread rain, with heavier downpours and more intense thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, particularly in western regions, with winds picking up from the southwest and west.
