D’Yani urges fans to ‘Live Life and Prosper’ at album launch

D’Yani wants listeners to slow down long enough to appreciate what they have. At an intimate launch in downtown Kingston, the Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist unveiled LLAP, or Live Life & Prosper, an album built from the struggles, heartbreak, victories and lessons of his own life.

My aspiration for this project is just basically to make sure people appreciate life, appreciate the little things, be grateful for the small things and be grateful for the big things. Just be grateful overall, and live life and prosper ultimately.

The record is more than a collection of songs for D’Yani. He describes it as a musical diary, with each track capturing a different “aspect and capsule” of his experience. Its central message is gratitude, from the smallest details to life’s larger rewards.

“My aspiration for this project is just basically to make sure people appreciate life, appreciate the little things, be grateful for the small things and be grateful for the big things,” D’Yani told the audience. “Just be grateful overall, and live life and prosper ultimately.”

I was at the river, stressed out. I worked too hard and tried to be too productive, and the song just popped up, honestly. That’s how the song was really created.

That idea first took shape in “Live A Little,” the contemplative 2023 single that became one of his biggest successes. D’Yani said the song came to him while he was stressed at a river, after working too hard and pushing himself to be productive. Produced by Kareem “Remus” Burrell, it has since passed 18 million streams across digital platforms.

Journey is a very personal song for me. It came from real-life experiences, the ups, the downs, the growth, the losses, the blessings, everything that shapes you along the way. I wasn’t trying to force a story. I was simply speaking my truth.

Burrell, the son of Xterminator Records founder Phillip “Fatis” Burrell, also produced “Journey,” another standout track. D’Yani calls the song deeply personal, drawing on growth, losses, blessings and the highs and lows that shape a person. Burrell said D’Yani delivers major emotions with honesty and warmth, qualities that give LLAP its intimate character.
