Hopeton Lindo Shares Personal Testimony on New EP ‘A Miracle’

Hopeton Lindo’s new six-song EP, “A Miracle,” grew out of grief and a deeply personal period in the singer-songwriter’s life. Released on August 21 through his company, Irie Pen Records, the project draws on the faith that has long shaped him, even though he describes himself as not overly religious.

“This project is my most personal; it’s a testimony giving God thanks for a miracle. I did this EP to help strengthen anyone going through a difficult time,” Lindo said.

The project carries a somber tone, a departure in feeling from the party anthems and ballads he has written or co-written, including “Telephone Love” for J.C. Lodge and “Red Rose For Gregory” for Gregory Isaacs. Lindo said the writing and singing could become emotional, particularly when family was involved, and expressed hope that listeners would find comfort in the songs.

“A Miracle” includes the gospel-influenced title track, with backing vocals from Brian and Tony Gold. Other songs are “Cover Me,” a collaboration with Lindo’s son, “Believe,” “Walking Miracle,” “Testify” and the previously released “Mental Health Awareness,” featuring Anthony Malvo.

Musicians Paul Gauntlett, Robbie Lyn and JonFX, along with singers Fiona and ShaunaDazzle, also contributed to the EP. Lindo closed his message with an appeal to keep faith: “God is the greatest; never give up. Just pray and believe miracles come through.”
