Da Nang Targets Over 11% Growth by Tackling Development Bottlenecks

Da Nang city leaders are confronting development challenges head-on, aiming to propel economic growth past the 11% mark in 2026. At the 4th conference of the City Party Committee, officials emphasized the need to directly address existing problems and bottlenecks hindering progress.

The conference has special significance because the decisions made will directly impact the achievement of the city's development goals in 2026.

The conference, held on July 3, reviewed the city's performance in the first half of 2026 and discussed strategies for the latter half of the year. Participants analyzed economic and social development, Party building, and political system advancements. The discussions also included growth scenarios and the feasibility of achieving the ambitious 11% growth target.

Le Ngoc Quang, Secretary of the City Party Committee, highlighted three core areas for discussion. First, officials examined how to ease difficulties in the two-tiered local government model and streamline administrative units. Second, the focus shifted to economic development, with a call to identify "bottlenecks" impeding growth, assign responsibilities for achieving the 11% target, and speed up land clearance for crucial projects.

First, assess the removal of difficulties in the operation of the two-level local government model, and unify views to continue reviewing, arranging, and streamlining communes and wards according to the Central Government's direction.

Third, delegates reviewed a draft resolution outlining the city's direction for the remainder of 2026. Quang noted that the city's socio-economic situation continues to show positive momentum. As of June 30, state budget revenue reached nearly 53 trillion Vietnamese dong, or 79.62% of the annual plan. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) grew by 9.52%, ranking Da Nang 13th among 34 localities nationwide. Tourism has also rebounded strongly, with accommodation facilities serving over 9.8 million visitors.

Second, regarding socio-economic development tasks, analyze the 'bottlenecks' that are hindering growth; identify priority solutions, clarify the responsibility of each sector and locality in achieving the growth target of over 11%; propose solutions to accelerate compensation and site clearance, promoting the implementation of key and breakthrough projects.
